Mt Warning is located inland from Tweed Heads in Northern NSW, just 20 minutes from Limpinwood Lodge. Walks are available from the base to the top and those planning to climb Mount Warning should wear sturdy shoes and allow a good half day for the round trip. The views are worth the effort.
In 1770 Captain Cook discovered a safe anchorage and named it Cape Byron after his navigator Lord Byron. The first industry in Byron started around the 1880s, and it is now one of the most recognised surfing destinations in Australia. Byron Bay is just 50 minutes south from Limpinwood Lodge and is certainly worth a day trip to.
